Stichting Mano

Stichting Mano empowers new Rotterdam residents, mainly refugees and migrant families, through language support, training, and community-building programs.

Stichting Mano is a Rotterdam-based social organization dedicated to promoting inclusion, self-reliance, and equal opportunities for people who face vulnerable living conditions.

Our mission is to create a safe and supportive environment in which newcomers, refugees, undocumented individuals, low-literate residents, and families struggling with poverty can build meaningful futures and participate fully in Dutch society. We believe that everyone has talents and potential, and that strong communities are built when people are empowered, connected, and given opportunities to grow.

Our work focuses on three core pillars: personal development, social cohesion, and community participation. We offer a wide range of programs, including language education, integration and empowerment courses, women’s groups, youth activities, professional skills training, and one-on-one guidance. In addition, we create opportunities for residents and volunteers to meet, exchange experiences, and support each other, fostering stronger neighbourhood networks.

Stichting Mano is motivated by the conviction that social inclusion is not only a right, but also a shared responsibility. Many of our projects are developed in close cooperation with local partners, schools, municipalities, and cultural organizations, allowing us to respond effectively to emerging needs in the city.

Current initiatives include programs that support social integration, enhance employability, strengthen family resilience, and reduce social isolation. By offering practical tools, personal coaching, and community-based activities, we help participants take confident steps toward independence and long-term wellbeing. Through this approach, Stichting Mano continues to build a more inclusive, resilient, and connected Rotterdam.
